When the US government announces crisis spending of $2 Trillion, is that a lot?

Well, it’s ten times as much, as the Australian government’s promise of $214 Billion in stimulus spending.

The world’s largest company is the Saudi Arabian oil company – Saudi Aramco. It’s valued at $1.7 trillion. While, Apple is worth $1.3 trillion.

Jeff Bezos (founder of Amazon) is worth an estimated $138 billion.

Kim Kardashian is worth $370 million, that’s a lot. But Jeff Bezos has squirrelled away assets worth almost 400 Kim Kardashians.

The global share market, is worth in the vicinity of $70 trillion.

But, the Panama Papers revealed that $20 trillion is hidden in shell companies and tax shelters.

What does a trillion dollars look like?

A trillion dollars is a million dollars multiplied by a million.

Or, 1 thousand billion.

Today, there’s general consensus that a billion is 1,000 x 1 million.

But in the past the US and the UK used the “long scale”. This is where a billion is 1 million x 1 million. Which is a lot more zeros.

This “long scale” is still used in France.
