A trillion dollars is a million dollars multiplied by a million.

Or, 1 thousand billion.

It’s got 12 zeroes: 1,000,000,000,000.

———————————————–

1 million seconds = 12 days

1 billion seconds = 31 years

1 trillion seconds = 31,710 years

———————————————–

Million: $1,000,000

Billion: $1,000,000,000

Trillion: $1,000,000,000,000

How different countries count: Million vs Billion

Today, there’s general consensus that a billion is 1,000 x 1 million.

You add three zeros each time you go from a million to a billion to a trillion.

But in the past the US and the UK used the “long scale”. This is where a billion is 1 million x 1 million. Which is a lot more zeros.

This “long scale” is still used in France.
